Life Writing workshop: Illuminating the Everyday | 15 March 2020

Illuminating the Everyday

10am to 2pm

This one-day workshop will explore different ways we can use everyday objects and experiences to tell compelling stories and illuminate wider themes. We will use ephemera like lists and photographs as jumping-off points for written exercises, and look at examples of the work of leading writers to inspire new ways of looking at our world and our life histories. The aim of the workshop is to provide a space to reframe, and to fully dive into, familiar territories and 'things', finding new angles and creative interpretations of what may at first appear mundane or trivial.

Suitable for writers of all levels to stimulate new work or deepen your existing practice.

Lulah Ellender is a freelance copywriter and author. Her first book, Elisabeth's Lists, was published by Granta in March 2018 and is a memoir of finding her long lost grandmother through a book of handwritten lists. Her writing has featured in the Guardian, granta.comcaughtbytheriver.com, YOU magazine, EasyLiving magazine and The Pool, amongst others. She has taught on the Autobiography and Life Writing course for The Creative Writing Programme and regularly gives talks about writing, lists and publishing.

She lives in Lewes, East Sussex with her husband, four children and an assortment of animals.
