Four Quartets in Berwick Church - Saturday 9 September
A beautiful and revelatory telling of T.S. Eliot’s Four Quartets in the stunning surroundings of Berwick Church by master storytellers Ashley Ramsden and Flora Pethybridge.
The great American poet T.S. Eliot is closely linked to Charleston. His epoch-defining poem, The Waste Land, was originally published by Leonard and Virginia Woolf at the Hogarth Press. He remained a close friend of the Woolfs (even though Virginia nailed his sense of English decorum by describing him as the man in the four-piece suit) and visited Charleston with them.
Berwick Church, along the road from Charleston, with murals painted by Vanerssa Bell and Duncan Grant, is the perfect place to hold this performance.
The performance will last for one hour without an interval.
Please note that there will not be a guided walk from Charleston for this performance.
