ROWAN HISAYO BUCHANAN AND GWENDOLINE RILEY WITH ARIFA AKBAR
Love - the ultimate subject matter. Whether thwarted, unrequited, or familial, it’s at the crux of our greatest narratives. Join two blisteringly honest writers as they look at this trope afresh. Rowan Hisayo Buchanan is a Japanese-British-Chinese-American writer whose debut Harmless Like You has been gathering plaudits; her story in How Much the Heart Can Hold explores ‘la douleur exquise’. Gwendoline Riley is the author of five taut, commanding novels; her most recent, First Love, was shortlisted for the Baileys Prize. “Riley writes with a Woolf-ish exactitude” (The Times). The session will be chaired by reviewer and critic Arifa Akbar.
