JESSIE GREENGRASS AND JULIANNE PACHICO WITH CLARE ALEXANDER AND MARK RICHARDS
In a Small Wonder first, we present a golden opportunity to hear from two brand new authors who have won enormous acclaim, alongside the people that believed in their writing and got the books on the shelves. Jessie Greengrass, who was born in 1982, won the Edge Hill Short Story Prize 2016 for her debut collection An Account of the Decline of the Great Auk, According to One Who Saw It – “Elegant, learned and melancholic” (The Telegraph). The Lucky Ones is Julianne Pachico’s debut, which The Sunday Times described as “dazzling […] filled with snarling prose and bravura narrative moves.” Julianne was born in Cambridge in 1985 and grew up in Cali, Colombia, which is the setting for much of the book. Julianne’s agent is Clare Alexander, one of the UK’s most celebrated publishing professionals: she became a literary agent in 1998 after more than 20 years as a publisher at Viking and Macmillan. Mark Richards is a publisher at John Murray. His authors include Lisa McInerney and Jessie Greengrass. There will be an extended Q&A session during this event.
